To Lift or Not to Lift?

Ladies, I’m not going to lie to you. Every time I enter the weight room at the gym, I feel like all the men stop what they are doing and stare at me. I think part of that is because I am usually the only woman to venture into that specific area of the club.   (I’ll admit, it’s a little intimidating!) But I think the other reason why they are staring at me is that they aren’t used to seeing a female lift such heavy weights. After a few seconds of shock and awe, they usually get right back to work. But…why is it that I am the only woman in there lifting weights? Shouldn’t we all be working on our strength?...

Resolve to be a "Health Planner"

To be honest, I don’t really believe in New Year’s resolutions. I much prefer setting and achieving goals as soon as they come across my mind, rather than postponing them until January 1st. Resolutions seem counter-productive, if you ask me, especially when they’re health and fitness related. However, if you have set a fitness resolution for the New Year, I want to you think about this. Safely Exercising in Summer Heat

The “dog days” of summer are upon us, and while we might get a glimpse or two of fall weather, this can still be the hottest, steamiest, sweatiest time of the year.   But that doesn’t mean you need to take your workouts indoors!   You can safely and effectively workout in the hot, humid temps… just make sure you follow my tips below! If you are going to attempt a hot workout outside, it’s important you pick the best time of day to do it. Getting out there early, even before 7:00 a.m., will be cooler and safer. The longer you wait, the less safe it is as the sun climbs and hits its daytime peak. If you are going to work out outside...
